Exclusive to Sowtalnaas: Terrorism Court Issued Insane Sentences to Political Activists After Biden's Visit

Based on several sources of Sowtalnaas and the National Assembly Party, and starting from the beginning of the month of Muharam, the Specialized Criminal Court has retried many of the accused in political and public opinion cases. Analysts inside the newspaper point out that this is due to government anger over the failure of the US visit to improve the image of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

The primary sentences (which were overturned) ranged from acquittal to several years in prison, then they were overturned on appeal immediately after the visit of US President Joe Biden and turned into sentences ranging from 25 to 70 years of imprisonment, followed by a travel ban for the same period.

It is pointed out that the Specialized Criminal Court stopped issuing sentences and began postponing sessions during Biden's visit and the Eid al-Adha holiday.

According to the sources, the court and the security services prevented even lawyers and families of the accused and detainees from attending, and issued these sentences in a suspiciously prompt and doubtful way.

The recent and sudden unfair sentences caused the mobilization of major international newspapers in one of these sentences that were leaked, which were against the academic Salma Al-Shehab, who was recently sentenced to 34 years in prison, followed by a 34-year travel ban.
